The Jacksonville Symphony Youth Orchestra’s annual Major/Minor concert is the season finale of the Publix Super Markets Charities Jacksonville Symphony Youth Orchestra Series, featuring the advanced JSYO ensembles with the musicians of the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra. The winners of the JSYO Young Artists Competition -- Allison Watkins, flute; Sam Casseday, bass; and Orlando Diaz, piano -- will also take center stage in solo performances with the Jacksonville Symphony Orchestra. The beginning and intermediate students will perform a Festival of Strings at 6:45 p.m., playing side-by-side with the "big kids" in the JSYO Philharmonic.
The Jacksonville Symphony Youth Orchestra assembles the most talented young musicians from all over the First Coast into one of the finest youth orchestra programs in the region. The JSYO offers comprehensive orchestral training to more than 200 students ranging from first grade through early college, comprising six ensembles, and led by a team of professional conductors and coaches.
